the launch of the New Orleans New Gallery (N.O.N Gallery)

Carl-Joe Williams and i have been discussing forming arts collective.based upon diversity and introducing the non-gallery / museum goer to fine art in a variety of media.we will use alternative spaces as pop up galleries for one night shows throughout the city shining light on new and up and coming artists in varying disciplines. Our first show Volume 1: Art + Design is a collaboration in curatorial efforts between carl and i and N.O.N. Gallery performance curator Gian Smith. Gian has chosen several performing artists and paired them with art/deisgn work that will be on display within the exhibit. Spoken word artists will be performing at multiple locations withint the JMC studios on Saturday evening.The Joan Mitchell Center and its Visual Mashup generously supports the N.O.N. Gallery's curatorial debut, allowing us to house Volume 1 in their JMC studios at 1000 North  Rampart. (Feb 8th 6 - 1030)Though this event will show several designers from around the corner and around the world (as far away as Brazil), it will highlight a young design team that's really starting to make some noise in New Orleans. Design Media is comprised of Damien Mitchell & Michael Zhong . (They will be showing off several of their design projects showing the process from inspiration / brainstorming / development through the final product. )Rolling Fatties ( new orleans favorite food truck) will be parked out front.
