Divinely Crafted

The 100 Men Hall, was founded in 1994 to "assist its members when sick, respectably bury its dead, and knit friendship. developed into an organization that preserves culture, interprets history, and gathers the community in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi through live music events, innovative programs, and artistic expression. The Hall celebrated the Harlem Renaissance with a series of events centered around celebrating locally born Richmond Barthe’. And I was honored to be commissioned to create a piece to celebrate his legacy. It is titled. “Divinely Crafted” Barthe’ described his process as one where he almost felt that he was not a part of it creatively. He was born Catholic and was a man of great faith; often describing his process as a spiritual one. In this piece, I attempted to use the doves and their magical wire to show the space where Barthe’s creative process took place. The spiritual realm where his hands and movements were guided by a higher power. Prints will be available soon with proceeds going to the 100 Men's HALL and a few progress shots along the way
